Andrea Sloan, M.S., CCC-SLP, is the founder and owner of Pediatric Behavior Solutions. She has been a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist since 2009. Through her professional training and experience Andrea has gained a unique understanding of how children LEARN (receive information) and COMMUNICATE (express information); which has equipped her with a distinct acumen for defusing difficult situations, helping to prevent undesired behaviors in children, and knowing how to effectively set clear expectations.

Andrea is passionate about collaborating with parents, caregivers, and teachers so they feel better equipped to promote a thriving environment for kids of all abilities. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

        

 MY EXPERIENCE

I began my speech therapy career at a PPCD (Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities) in 2008, after having earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas.

As most of us know, young children present plenty of challenging behaviors, but when those young children also have varying abilities, the ways to support those behaviors can be tricky and vary widely. My knowledge of child communication and ability to design unique visual tools was a tremendous asset in the classroom.

I’ve also served as the Assistant Director for a speech therapy private practice clinic where I provided evaluations and therapy for toddlers through middle school children. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationships I cultivated with each of my students and their families and the almost immediate impact it had on their family dynamics.

Fast forward to now... I’m a mother - so wording things in a way children with or without a diagnosis can understand is more than second nature to me. I’d like to think my work now at Pediatric Behavior Solutions is a perfect blend of  all my job experiences and I can’t wait to help your home or school be a more peaceful place.
